The five-time Grammy winner joined her TDE labelmate to perform “luther” and “All the Stars.” News broke a few weeks before the big game that SZA would join Lamar on stage as the Philadelphia Eagles went head-to-head with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Actor Samuel L Jackson kicked things off dressed as Uncle Sam, before Lamar launched into songs like “Squabble Up,” “HUMBLE.” and “DNA.” The performance was steeped in symbolism with marching-style choreography, dancers dressed in the colors of the American flag, and a few jabs at Canadian rapper Drake in the song “Not Like Us,” perhaps solidifying Lamar as the winner of their yearlong rap feud.
SZA popped out to accompany Kendrick Lamar on his song “luther,” which samples Luther Vandross’ “If This World Were Mine.” Clad in an all-red leather ensemble with a lace top, SZA sashayed and sang, flexing her ethereal vocals, before the duo launched into “All the Stars” from the Black Panther soundtrack.

Although she delivered a stand-out performance, SZA said being added to Lamar’s halftime show was unexpected. She described Lamar as a “flawless” performer and said she intended to match his energy on stage.
“I just knew that he wasn’t going to ask me because that would be crazy,” SZA said in an interview with Apple Music. “And he did.”
Before the game, SZA released four new songs to her album “SOS Deluxe: LANA.” The updated album now includes “Take You Down,” “Open Arms,” “PSA” and “Jon” featuring rapper Don Toliver.
The singer is set to join Lamar on his “Grand National Tour” beginning in the spring. The pair will perform at Dome at the America’s Center in ӣƵ on June 4.
