The ӣƵ Downtown Airport in Sauget has landed some money for the road, specifically the one that services its main structures.
U.S. Rep. Nikki Budzinski, a Democrat from Springfield, Illinois, said the airport will get about $1.2 million for the improvements.
The money is designated to complete work on the airport’s access road, Curtiss-Steinburg Drive, which serves the terminal, airport businesses and hangar facilities.
Budzinski, whose district includes parts of Madison and St. Clair counties in the Metro East area, touted the work as helping the “broader goal of expanding business and development opportunities in the Metro East.”
