EAST ST. LOUIS • Police this afternoon identified a worker killed Monday after getting caught in a conveyer belt at Swansea Building Products Corp. as Thomas Wallace, 31, of Collinsville.
Inspectors with the U.S. Occupational Safety & Health Administration descended on the plant Monday after the fatal accident. Swansea Building Products Corp. is at 494 North 33rd Street in East Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ.
Detective Marion Riddle said Wallace died at the plant, but Riddle had no information on how Wallace got caught in the conveyer belt.
Karl Armstrong, a spokesman with OSHA's office in Fairview Heights, said the federal agency has six months to complete its investigation.
