CLAYTON — A man was found shot dead in a Ferguson home last week, six weeks after he declined a bribe to keep him silent in a rape case he reported to police, according to court records.
Kcoree Warren, 44, was found last Tuesday afternoon just inside his home in the first block of Bayview Drive. He died at a hospital, police said.
Earlier this year, Warren filed a police report alleging Lavor Harmon, 39, of Ferguson, had sexually assaulted a teenage girl in mid-March, police said.
In June, Harmon was indicted on four counts of second-degree statutory sodomy.
On Friday, authorities charged Harmon’s sister, Lavonda Harmon, 44, of Houston, Texas, with tampering with a witness in a felony prosecution.Â
Investigators said Lavonda went to Warren’s home in Ferguson in late May accompanied by a man not identified in court documents.

There, she tried to convince Warren not to participate in the prosecution of her younger brother.
The unidentified man then offered Warren $12,000, police wrote.
Warren did not take the money.
Six weeks later, someone came to Warren’s home and killed him, police said.
Ferguson police at the time of the shooting said officers were looking for a man in his 20s believed to have fled the shooting scene in a white SUV.
Ferguson police on Monday evening did not say whether a suspect had been identified or charged in his killing.Â
When reached by phone, Warren’s family said they were not speaking with the press out of fear for their safety.
