DOJ Fires Federal Prosecutor Who Worked On Diddy & Epstein Cases..

  • 0

The US Department of Justice has dismissed veteran federal prosecutor Maurene Comey, who worked on high-profile cases involving Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. Her firing reportedly came without explanation, according to sources familiar with the matter.  Comey, a prosecutor in the Southern District of New York since 2015, is the daughter of former FBI Director James Comey, whom US President Donald Trump fired in 2017.  Her dismissal follows the Justice Department’s removal of several officials involved in cases that angered Trump. Her departure comes amid renewed scrutiny of the administration’s handling of Epstein-related files.  Attorney General Pam Bondi initially has suggested that Epstein's client list would be released, but later reversed course, saying there was no incriminating list.  Trump has publicly lashed out at supporters, who are accusing him of covering up his links to Epstein, calling them “weaklings.” Comey’s firing follows her team’s failure to convict Combs on racketeering and sex trafficking charges. He was found guilty this month on lesser counts. Trump has reportedly expressed discomfort about a Comey relative working in his administration.  Meanwhile, James Comey is under investigation for past congressional testimony related to the Russia inquiry, and was recently questioned by the Secret Service over a since-deleted Instagram post.
