Camden Lohman, a 2025 Fort Zumwalt North High graduate, was selected in the eighth round of the Major League Baseball draft Monday by the New York Mets.Â
The 6-foot-4 right-handed pitcher was a Class 6 first team all-state and All-Metro second team selection after a senior campaign where he posted a 5-1 record with a .80 ERA in 44 innings. He racked up 92 strikeouts and limited teams to a batting average of .135.Â
A University of Missouri commit, Lohman was the first high school player from Missouri taken in the draft. The Mets added recent Nixa graduate Wyatt Vincent in the 11th round.
The last three area high school athletes picked in the MLB draft all elected to forgo college and begin their professional careers.
Last season, Francis Howell infielder Tytus Cissell was drafted by Arizona in the fourth round and Collinsville pitcher Ethan Bagwell was selected in the sixth round by Atlanta.
